Happy Holidays from UBB!

To all of our friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues, we wish you happy holidays! We enjoy celebrating the holidays at UBB because we view the holiday season as a season of giving. Because of YOU, you are giving our students the tools to succeed to pass their classes and to earn their degrees and certificates. The holiday season also gives us the opportunity to connect with all of you, and to share our progress on our programs, projects, and campaigns from the past few months.
David Anderson, one of our students who earned his AA degree last year, shared with us the importance of education, and how it transformed him:
“I was surprised to realize that earning my degree through UBB has changed how I think, it has changed what I think about, it has changed who I spend time with, and it has changed the topics we discuss. In short, earning my degree through UBB has changed me from a typical prisoner, and turned me me into a college graduate.”
Another one of our students who earned his AA degree, Jimmy Davis, shared with us how furthering his education has helped shape him, and how excited he is for his future:
“It has opened my eyes to the possibilities that lie ahead, rather than repeating the dead ends of my past. I’m excited to see what my future holds with my newly acquired knowledge and the knowledge yet to come Thanks for believing in me, when I didn’t believe in myself. My future looks bright!”
It is moments like these that remind us how grateful we are to be doing what we are doing everyday at UBB — to empower and inspire our students through higher educational opportunities.

With the holiday season in full swing, we would like to remind all of you about our year-end campaign! Our motto for this year’s year-end campaign is: “1-to-1. One student, one class.” The cost for one student to enroll in one class is $547. Our year-end goal is to raise $13,128, which is the cost to enroll 24 students in a class. We are only about $2,200 away from reaching our year-end goal — help us reach it!
There are so many ways in which you can give to our students:

  • Donating through our website

  • Writing a check and mailing it to our office

  • Creating your own Facebook fundraiser for UBB

  • Spreading the word about UBB to your friends, family, and colleagues

We cannot do it without your help! Thank you so much for your continued generosity by supporting our students and what we do here at UBB.
